Historically, Spring Hill, and Hernando County broadly, has been affected by several tropical systems in the last 30 years. The most significant in recent memory was perhaps Hurricane Irma in 2017, which resulted in massive power outages, property damage, and flooding across the region. Similarly, Hurricane Hermine in 2016 led to significant damage and flooding in Spring Hill and the surrounding areas. The town has also seen extensive impacts from both Tropical Storm Debby in 2012 and the devastating 2004 hurricane season. These historical events stress the necessity for preparedness given Spring Hill's vulnerability to both high wind events and flood risks from hurricanes and tropical storms.
